KNUST: Dismissed Students Called Back To Repeat Their Courses

Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology is calling back all its students who were dismissed on academic grounds to come back and repeat their courses as the school has put a stop to dismissal on academic grounds.

Under the previously existing law, students were dismissed if they could not satisfy the following

i. Any student upon trailing more than two (2) courses after supplementary examinations.
ii. A 1st year student on obtaining a CWA of less than 40 at the end of the supplementary examinations.
iii. A 2nd or 3rd year student whose performance is such that he/she has to repeat for the second time in the programme
iv. A repeated student failing to obtain a CWA of 40 or above

But a statement signed by the SRC President of the institution, Samuel Amoako Kusi noted that “this has consistently been a bane for a lot of students robbing several of them an opportunity to have a degree”.

The statement further mentioned that “the SRC is pleased to inform all students that dismissal on the grounds of academics is now a thing of the past”.

It therefore called on all students who were dismissed at the beginning of this academic year on academic grounds to return to the institution to repeat their courses.

“We therefore urge all students who were dismissed at the beginning of this academic year on the grounds stated above to come back and repeat so they can finish their programme of study as they would be allowed to do so”.

Below Is The Full Statement

The SRC is pleased to inform all students that dismissal on the grounds of academics is now a thing of the past.

This has consistently been a bane for a lot of students robbing several of them an opportunity to have a degree.

Under the previously existing law i.

Were all grounds for withdrawal from the University. The new arrangement requires that students in such situations be required to repeat the programme of study rather than be withdrawn from the University as many times as possible.

We therefore urge all students who were dismissed at the beginning of this academic year on the grounds stated above to come back and repeat so they can finish their programme of study as they would be allowed to do so.

The general student populace are reminded to abide by all university rules and regulations to ensure the harmonious coexistence of all and sundry. When in doubt, feel free to reach the SRC at our office in the SRC hostel for clarification.
The SRC remains the chief advocate of students.
Best Regards.

…SIGNED…

SRC President
